Early May Bank Holiday 2025, 2026 and 2027
The first Monday of every May is observed as Early May Bank Holiday on the Isle of Man. On bank holidays, banks shut down, many businesses close or shorten their hours, and public transportation may operate on alternate schedules. Since bank holidays come on Mondays, they create long weekends that people use for short getaways, including to the Isle of Man in the middle of the Irish Sea.

On rare occasions, Early May Bank Holiday’s date is moved to coincide with VE Day. This is the case for 2020, for example, with the observed on Friday 8 May to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe at the end of World War II.
Early May Bank Holiday is also associated with May Day and International Labour Day. It is a time when families love to get out and breathe in some fresh spring air and when laborers enjoy a respite from their daily grind.
